Lot Cycling Holidays also provides holidays and short breaks for those who’d welcome more challenging activity during the day. If you are looking for endurance or faster cycling or to further either your cycling or triathlon training then one of the following breaks may suit you:
In 2011 we are offering two options:
Option 1 -
Where you can hone your cycling fitness in the early-mid season towards your personal training goals.
Rob Moore will be your coach - a qualified level 3coach, tutor and assessor for British Triathlon with over 20 years experience of both competing and coaching, he will look after your cycling needs throughout the week.
He’ll cycle alongside, offering guidance, encouragement and feedback, around mapped circuits which provide a variety of terrains to stimulate and enhance your training.
Daily distances will be between 100 - 130kms depending on terrain.
All meals are provided for this intensive 4 day / 5 night holiday and accommodation is as stated in the Your Stay section.
Included in the cycle training break:
Pickup from Bergerac airport or Gourdon rail station. Or by arrangement if a large group.
All breakfasts and evening meals.

Day 1 (Friday)
Welcome
We meet you at Bergerac airport or Gourdon rail station and drive you to
Mas de Flory, your home for the break.
Relax and unwind while you settle in and later enjoy an evening meal – with wine and coffee to finish – and meet your fellow guests for the week.
Day 2 (Saturday)
Belves & the Dordogne 106km (66mls)
After a substantial buffet breakfast we’ll check your bike to make sure that everything is comfortable before setting off.
This starts mostly flat but becomes undulating with a couple of steep hills but with wonderful views across the valleys and beyond.
You’ll ride through pretty, sleepy villages and alongside the river Dordogne and past the spectacular, historic riverside settlement of La Roque Gageac carved into the rocky hillside.

Day 3 (Sunday)
St Cirque Lapopie 120km (74mls)
The village of Saint-Cirq Lapopie (14th century)
is perched on a cliff 100 m (330 ft) above the river and is one of the major beauty spots of the Lot valley.
Cycle along quiet backroads to Saint-Cirq Lapopie with it's spectacular views of the Lot valley.
Return via La Bastide Murate and a stop for coffee?

Day 4 (Monday)
The Lot Valley 93km (58mls)
Today you’ll explore the lovely winding River Lot and surrounding countryside.
You’ll meander along the river and among the vineyards passing through the small villages of Albas, Castelfranc and Grezels – all of which have bars where you can stop for a coffee (or a cool beer) and watch the river flow.
We'll
take a detour up to Belaye – a fairly steep climb, but absolutely worth it for the breathtaking views across the valley from the top.
Continue cycling along to Puy L’Eveque, the ancient port and mediaeval town with its 14th century narrow streets and houses rising from the Lot river and cladding the hillside beyond. Take the rest of the afternoon to cycle back through the gentle climbs back through the Bourianne to Mas de Flory and a hot shower!
Day 5 (Tuesday)
Rocamadour
110km (68mls)
Travel through the national parc (parc regional causse) to amazing Rocamadour, one of France’s most popular tourist attractions. This is a fairly challenging route with a flat intro with gradual hills but no longer than 2 kms in length.
Return via the 6km downhill from Rocamadour towards Gourdon and home.
Day 6 (Wednesday)
Au revoir
After a leisurely breakfast we’ll drive you to Gourdon rail station or Bergerac airport to meet your homeward connection.

Option 2 -
Provides a holiday and break for the more active cyclist who is looking for the challenge of completing an organised cyclosportive event. This may be either as an aim in itself or to include as part of a more structured programme of cycling training.
We are offering a 5 night break in August based around our local cyclosport event.
La Vélotoise takes place on Sunday the 23rd of August with a choice of 50, 100 or 130 km circuits around Figeac in the eastern Lot.
Arrive at our base on Friday evening, enjoy relaxed cycling on Saturday, take part in the cyclosportive on Sunday, then enjoy a couple more days of exciting cycling through beautiful countryside to round off your holiday before returning home on Wednesday.
This is a small group holiday with a maximum of 8 people.
The holiday differs slightly from our leisure cycling holidays in that a guide cycles with you at all times - even in the Sportive!
The sportive is a national event listed in the French Sportif Calender. Last year over 450 entered. (It is increasing every year)

Included in the cycle sportive break:
Pickup from Bergerac airport or Gourdon rail station. Or by arrangement if a large group.
All breakfasts and evening meals.
Travel to and from the Vélotoise sportif event.
It is assumed that you will want to bring your own bike with you, however we do have some road bikes but not all sizes. Contact us for details.
PS
Why this cycle sportive and not a bigger one?
I personally prefer the smaller ones that still have the atmosphere but not the crowds.
